Annual Conference

The 2010 Annual Conference will take place at Cardiff City Hall (from lunch-time on Tuesday 30 March to lunch-time Thursday 1 April).

The City Hall stands in the heart of Cardiff, which is one of Europe’s fastest growing capital cities offering a vibrant and diverse mix of activities, attractions and events. Built in the English Renaissance style, the City Hall was opened in 1906, a year after Cardiff was granted its city status.

The Annual Conference provides the opportunity for delegates to present their current research, develop their academic network, and an opportunity for the professional bodies and publishers to meet with academics and promote dialogue between them. Papers are invited in all areas of accounting and finance for:

parallel sessions which will last for 90 minutes and contain three papers;

emerging paper sessions (short presentation and discussion) which will last for 90 minutes and contain up to five papers.

Anyone wishing to present their work should submit their papers (parallel sessions) or abstracts (workshop session) by 31 December 2009 using the on-line facility on the BAA’s web-site. Authors will be notified of acceptance and the timetabling of papers by mid February 2010.

Delegates wishing to attend without presenting can register up until 28 February 2010.

We gratefully acknowledge sponsorship from the ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA and ICAS. This sponsorship allows us to raise significantly the standard of service we offer and the BAA is proud of these links. We are also pleased to acknowledge that the sponsorship of the BAA Doctoral Colloquium that immediately precedes the Conference is provided by the ICAEW.

Please note that attendance at this event may contribute delegates meeting their CPD requirements. It is recommended that delegates refer to the appropriate professional bodies CPD policies.

The BAA is able to offer a reduced registration fee for registered full-time, non-salaried PhD/MPhil students and retired academics.

Throughout the conference there will be a number of publishers and academic-related organisations exhibiting their material.
